Boutique Gynecologic Oncology Care Founded by Women, for Women

A PRACTICE BUILT ON THE BELIEF THAT WOMEN DESERVE MORE.

Whole Health Oncology was founded on a belief that has guided Dr. Shazia Bashir throughout her entire career: that women facing gynecologic cancer deserve far more than a clinical encounter. They deserve a community, and a care team that sees them as a whole person and stays by their side long after treatment ends.

Dr. Bashir is double board-certified in gynecologic oncology and obstetrics and gynecology, with a residency at Johns Hopkins University and fellowship training at Columbia and Cornell Universities. Her path to medicine took her from Northwestern University for pre-med and journalism, Boston University for a Master’s in Public Health, and Saint Louis University for her medical degree. Before founding Whole Health Oncology, she served as the first Chair of Robotic Surgery at St. Vincent’s Southside in Jacksonville and held academic appointments at both the University of Florida and the University of Massachusetts, where she combined a high-volume surgical practice with teaching and research. She has been recognized by the University of Florida for excellence in women’s cancer care and received the Golden Apple Award for her teaching at UF Gainesville.

Dr. Bashir’s commitment to whole-patient healing extends well beyond the operating room. She’s a certified yoga instructor with over 250 hours of training who has studied yoga and meditation in Bali, Costa Rica and Colombia. She believes that truly healing from cancer means addressing the mind, the body, and the spirit together, not just the diagnosis. That belief is why she created the THRIVE Program, so every patient has movement, breathwork, nutrition guidance, and community built into her care from day one.

Alongside Dr. Bashir: Physician Assistant L. Jeanette Fincher brings the same warmth and clinical dedication to every patient she sees, and Meg Dennis, our THRIVE Program Director and New Patient Coordinator, guides patients through treatment and recovery with the wellness tools and community support of our THRIVE Program. Together, they’ve built a practice that feels unlike anything most patients have experienced before: boutique in feel, exceptional in every clinical measure, and genuinely invested in helping women not just survive… but thrive!
